Recommendations and tips
Symbols explained
  • Use an appropriate detergent in the quantity recommended by the manufacturer. Also, make sure you don’t overload your machine. In the case of a modern washing machine, use the appropriate program.
  • However, if your clothes require a more thorough cleaning then you will have to wash at least at 60°C. For a longer life of your washing machine, it is also necessary to wash from time to time (weekly or monthly depending on your wash frequency) at 60°C with a general-purpose powder detergent.
  • Always follow the textile care instructions.
  • Before washing, pre-sort laundry according to the degree of soiling, type of treatment (washing temperature), colour and, if no care label is provided, according to the indicated fibre content.
Note: Do pay attention to the information on special treatments for delicate fibres.
  • Pre-treat stains or heavily soiled garments; check colourfastness in advance.
  • Empty pockets.
  • Close buttons and zips.
  • Turn clothes inside out.
  • Set the appropriate washing program according to the care symbol (normal process, mild process, gentle process).
  • If wet laundry is to be washed, only half-fill the drum.
  • Follow the dosage recommendation of the detergent according to the water hardness at your home, and degree of soiling of your laundry. Always dose according to the dirtiest textile in your particular wash load, especially if you include heavily soiled items.
  • In the case of coloured textiles, do not use a universal detergent which contains oxygen for bleaching purposes, unless the bleaching symbol (o) allows its use. Otherwise, you may experience colour loss in your garments. The use of special detergents is recommended. The use of special detergents is recommended.

Boiling wash (normal process): Articles e.g. in cotton or linen, white, suitable for boiling, dyed or printed. For the most efficient wash always fill the machine completely. Pre-treat stubborn stains.

60° C coloured wash (normal process): Coloured articles which must not be washed at boiling temperature e.g. made of cotton, modal, polyester and mixed fabrics.

“Easy care” articles (mild process): Reduce the load of laundry. The drum should be not more than half full.  Pre-wash only if the textiles are heavily soiled. Avoid spinning or spin for short periods only to minimise the risk of creasing.

40° C coloured wash (normal process): Washing cycle e.g. for dark coloured articles made of cotton, polyester, mixed fabrics etc.

40° C “Easy care” articles (mild process): Fine laundry, e.g. in modal, viscose, synthetic fibres (polyacryl, polyester and polyamide). Reduce the laundry load by half. Pre-wash only heavily soiled textiles. Avoid spinning or only spin for short periods to minimise the risk of creasing.

40° C very mild process (gentle process/wool wash cycle): For articles e.g. in machine-washable wool. This washing cycle uses a much reduced mechanical treatment. Reduce the load of laundry substantially. The drum should be not more than a third full.

30° C coloured wash (normal process): Washing cycle, e.g. for dark coloured articles in cotton, polyester, mixed fabrics etc.

30° C “Easy care” articles. The drum should be not more than half full. Avoid spinning or spin for short periods only to minimise the risk of creasing.

30° C very mild process (gentle process / wool wash cycle): Articles made, e.g. of machine-washable wool. This washing cycle ensures a much reduced mechanical treatment. The drum should be not more than a third full.
